{"id":133,"date":"2016-02-14T14:00:40","date_gmt":"2016-02-14T14:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blog.wildfishy.com\/?p=133"},"modified":"2016-02-15T03:55:54","modified_gmt":"2016-02-15T03:55:54","slug":"valentines-cookies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blog.wildfishy.com\/?p=133","title":{"rendered":"Valentine&#8217;s Cookies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I invited my friend Cordelia over to my house to decorate heart shaped cookies for Valentine\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>Since mixing sugar cookie dough and waiting for it to chill can take a while, my parents and I made the dough and frosting in advance so it was ready when Cordelia arrived.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1537\/24916185422_7096f9a386.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nBefore we started Cordelia helped me tie my apron.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1592\/25034237125_cb531b3425.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nWe covered the table with wax paper for easy clean up and got the tools we needed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1598\/25034243795_631330cd92.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nI sprinkled a little flour on the table so the cookie dough didn\u2019t stick.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1634\/24407388853_309c7dd786.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nThen I rolled the dough out so it was even.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1499\/24738713020_ff039e9e03.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nOnce the dough was ready, I started cutting out heart shapes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1494\/24407419583_9914cc971e.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nI tried to get the shapes as close together as possible so there wasn\u2019t a lot of dough left over. We rolled the scraps out and cut more shapes, but the less you handle the dough the better it is.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1560\/24666629099_ba7e4ba7d3.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nWe placed the cookies on the cookie sheet lined with parchment paper making sure to leave space in between for the cookies to spread out in the oven.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1523\/24940927291_af777da747.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nWhen the timer went off my mom pulled the cookies out of the oven. She said we could take them off the pan to cool as long as we were careful not to touch the hot pan.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1495\/24666635339_8d0d4666e0.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nOnce the cookies were cool it was time to decorate! Cordelia has used a piping cone before so she demonstrated how it works.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1564\/24940981671_3ed2f35c89.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nI didn\u2019t wait long to try it myself. As we finished each cookie we put it back on the pan.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1691\/24940987451_c4ddc8597a.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nThis is what they looked like when they were all done.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1513\/24407449673_559cf8e076.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nFinally it was the moment we had been waiting for, we each chose a cookie and took a big bite out it.
